Non-Surgical Skin Tightening
in St. George, Utah
RF + infrared skin tightening with Sublime on the Harmony XL Pro platform — no needles, no downtime, no surgery. Performed by Janessa Kraupp-Sampson, MSN, FNP-BC, a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner.
How Sublime Works
Sublime delivers two energies simultaneously — bipolar radiofrequency (RF) and infrared light — into the deeper layers of skin. The combined heat triggers a controlled wound-healing response, stimulating new collagen and elastin over the following 3 months. Existing collagen also contracts, producing immediate (mild) firming.
Because RF doesn't target melanin, it's safe across the full Fitzpatrick scale — including darker skin tones, where many light-based lasers are riskier. The handpiece glides smoothly across the treatment area. No needles. No incision. No downtime.
Sublime vs Morpheus8 vs Ultherapy vs Surgery
The honest comparison most providers won't give you. The right tier depends on how much laxity you actually have.
Sublime (RF + infrared, no needles)
Best for: Mild-to-moderate laxity, body skin tightening, patients who can't tolerate downtime or needles. Sessions: 5–6. Downtime: none. Available at Aera.
Morpheus8 (RF microneedling)
Best for: Moderate-to-significant laxity, acne scars, more aggressive remodeling. Sessions: 3. Downtime: 1–3 days redness + pinpoint marks. Not currently offered at Aera — if you'd benefit more from Morpheus8, we'll tell you.
Ultherapy (focused ultrasound)
Best for: Mid-to-deep facial lifting (jowls, neck, brow). Reaches the SMAS layer addressed by face lifts. Sessions: 1, repeated yearly. Downtime: none, but uncomfortable during the session. Not at Aera.
Surgical face lift
Best for: Severe laxity, jowls, neck banding that no laser can fully address. Recovery: weeks. Result longevity: 8–12 years. We refer to a trusted plastic surgeon when this is the right call.

There's no single 'best' — the right choice depends on how much laxity you have. For mild-to-moderate skin laxity with no downtime, RF + infrared platforms like Sublime (which we use at Aera) are excellent. For moderate laxity that needs more lift, Morpheus8 (RF microneedling) is more powerful but involves 1–3 days of recovery. For more advanced laxity, Ultherapy (focused ultrasound) reaches deeper tissue. For severe laxity, surgical options outperform any laser. Janessa will assess your skin honestly and recommend the right tier.
Both use radiofrequency (RF) to heat the deeper dermis and stimulate collagen. Morpheus8 combines RF with microneedling — more powerful and goes deeper, but causes 1–3 days of pinpoint redness and small marks. Sublime delivers RF + infrared without needles, so no downtime and a gentler curve. We use Sublime when laxity is mild-to-moderate; for established laxity, Morpheus8 or surgical options may be a better fit. Aera does not currently offer Morpheus8; we'll tell you honestly if you'd benefit more from that elsewhere.
Ultherapy uses focused ultrasound that reaches the deep SMAS layer (the same layer addressed by surgical face lifts), making it more powerful for jowl and neck lifting. Sublime uses RF + infrared at shallower depths — gentler, no downtime, but less dramatic. Ultherapy is also more uncomfortable during the session. Sublime is a better fit for early skin laxity, body skin tightening, and patients who can't tolerate downtime or pain.
At Aera Medical Aesthetics, individual Sublime sessions typically run $300–$500 per area, with multi-session packages discounted. A complete face course is generally 5–6 sessions. Body areas (abdomen, arms, knees) are quoted per area. Call (435) 319-4064 for an exact quote.
Most patients need 5–6 Sublime sessions spaced 1–2 weeks apart for an initial course. Maintenance treatments every 6 months keep results sustained. You'll see initial firmness improvements after the second session, with continued tightening over 3 months as new collagen forms.
Yes. Unlike many laser-based platforms, RF energy doesn't target melanin — it heats tissue based on water content. This makes RF skin tightening one of the safer options for medium-to-deep skin tones (Fitzpatrick IV–VI), where some lasers carry hyperpigmentation risk.
None. Sublime is genuinely a no-downtime treatment — patients return to work, exercise, and makeup the same day. You may notice mild redness or warmth for 30–60 minutes after the session, but it's not visible to others.
Initial collagen-stimulated results last 12–18 months. Patients who do maintenance treatments every 6 months sustain results indefinitely. Aging continues, so no skin-tightening treatment is a permanent freeze — but consistent maintenance keeps you visibly ahead of where you'd otherwise be.
